Announcing the 2026 Beat-the-Heat 3v3 Festival!
MCHA is excited to announce the 2026 Beat-the-Heat Festival!

The Beat-the-Heat Festival is a 3v3 half-ice event that will be held on Aug 2nd, 2026!
Get ready to get out of the heat and into the rink for a fun day of competing and growing in faith! The Beat-the-Heat Festival will feature a packed schedule of fast-paced 3v3 half-ice hockey and cross-team ministry content to build up community and camaraderie!
Games will be played on Aug 2nd, 2026 (between the end of the regular season and the playoffs) at the Allen Community Ice Rink on a half-ice sheet and will consist of a 3-minute warmup and two 15-minute run-time periods.
Each team will consist of 6 - 9 players and a goalie. Teams are guaranteed 4 games: 3 games in a round robin, followed by either a championship or consolation game (based on round robin performance). All players on the winning team will receive commemorative awards!
Start Times | Game Type |
3:15pm – 6:55pm | Round Robin games (3 per team) |
7:45pm – 8:25pm | Championship/consolation games (1 per team) |
The cost for this event is $500 per team. Any MCHA players in the 2026 Spring/Summer season are eligible to coordinate a team (it is not limited to existing team rosters), but there are a limited number of team slots available so contact us to reserve your team's spot today!
Unique rules for MCHA 3v3 events can be found here and include:
- There is no icing, no offsides, no timeouts, and no slapshots.
- Goaltender freezes are played “drop-in” style – the offensive team retreats to their side of the ice and allow the goaltender to play the puck to their team.
- When the score gets lopsided, the losing team can add players to the ice to recover (4 goal differential = 4 players on the ice for the losing team, 5 or more goal differential = 5 players on the ice for the losing team). The normal 3 goal limit for each player will also be in effect.
- Minor penalties result in a “jailbreak” penalty shot. All other players line up behind the shooter’s net, once the shooter touches the puck to initiate the penalty shot, play is immediately live!
