HOME OF THE
METROPLEX CHRISTIAN
HOCKEY ASSOCIATION
I’m sure you have with all the lights, decorations, Christmas trees, cookies, concerts, parties and the season when couples apparently give each other puppy’s and pick-up trucks.
There’s a lot of bustling about. Some even acknowledge a story about the birth of this person who will be named Jesus, who in time is revealed as the son of God and thirty-some years later will be crucified at Calvary outside Jerusalem. And as crazy as it may sound three days later this Jesus will declare victory over death and sin through his resurrection. We know this story about the birth of Jesus and what comes later from the Bible – GOD’s WORD! Nowhere else is this story told. There are very few mentions of this person Jesus in any other source than the Bible.
In all the glitter and glitz, the pomp and parade of Christmas, we can easily lose sight of the real Christmas story. Think about this: when you start getting carried away with the pomp, puppies and pick-up trucks, remind yourself of the real reason for the season, because the Christmas story is far bigger than anything that our culture has to offer!
The Christmas story announces the birth of a King: not just a mighty king, but the mightiest of all. Christmas announces the birth of a King who will sweep away all worldly kings! Born in a stable, laid in a manger and attended by angels. A baby to whom the wisest of kings will bow down. Here is baby who is hunted by a wicked king, but a baby who escapes and becomes the mightiest of kings, triumphant through love, not through the sword.
The Christmas story is a telling of the whole miraculous story of the Christ unfolding in his first days and weeks of His life. The Christmas story is the concentrated essence of the person of Christ! It is a story of love, forgiveness and acceptance and an essential one because everyone needs Jesus! It’s the very best story we could ever tell!
SO…
Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere, Go, tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born!
